MULTAN: Islamabad United's hard-hitting batter Asif Ali has said his statement about practising 150 sixes a day was false.

Earlier, Asif reportedly said that he hits 150 sixes in a day, in the nets, so that he could smash four or five in the match.

However, the middle-order batter has said his interview was misinterpreted.

In an interview with Geo.tv on Saturday, Asif said: "I am a human, not a machine that I will hit a hundred and fifty sixes in a day. My interview about practising 150 sixes a day was misinterpreted. I was practising sixes in a round of forty. How can I hit 150 sixes? A player can hit a maximum of fifteen to twenty shots. I try to bat according to my aggressive style."

Asked about Iftikhar Ahmed hitting Wahab Riaz for six maximums in a row during the exhibition match between Quetta Gladiators and Peshawar Zalmi on February 5, he said: "You can hit six sixes in an over on rare occasions. Iftikhar Ahmed hit six sixes to Pakistan's best bowler."

The batter said he is focused on the ongoing eighth edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

"I will try to do well in the tournament. Apart from PSL, all of cricket is important to me. At the moment PSL is going on and the focus is on that. PSL is one step away from international cricket and performance here comes in handy," he said.

Islamabad will lock horns with Multan Sultans in their second match of the PSL 8 at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

"Islamabad United have been playing aggressive cricket since the beginning. We try to keep the strike rate high, which is appreciated by all," he said.

Moreover, the 31-year-old heaped praise on Multan Sultans' pacer Ihsanullah, who is the top wicket-taker of the PSL so far with 10 wickets.

"The good thing is that fast bowlers are being unearthed in the form of Ihsanullah. I am very happy to see his fast bowling. He bowls consistently with great pace, which is good," Asif concluded.

During Islamabad's season opener against Karachi Kings, Asif scored four runs off five balls.

Opting to bowl first, the Shadab Khan-led Islamabad restricted Karachi Kings to 173 runs before chasing down the target in 18.2 overs.

During the run-chase, Munro put Islamabad in control after hitting 58 runs off just 28 balls, while Azam smashed 44 runs in the same number of deliveries.
